Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
Until 2004, Guangzhou Airport was located within the city - it could not expand, which is why it was constantly crowded. To solve the problem, another airport was built in the capital of Guangdong province, more suitable for such a large center. The name was left unchanged, and the complex itself was located 28 km from the city center. The new Baiyun is 5 times larger than the previous one, by the way, 19.8 billion yuan have already been invested in the project.
The modern Guangzhou airport, unlike the old one, receives and produces aircraft around the clock. This, of course, has simplified the work of airlines - now intercontinental flights can depart in the late evening. New Baiyun is already considered one of China's busiest airports. And next year, when the second terminal opens, it will be able to receive up to 80 million passengers a year.
What to do at the airport while waiting for your plane?
In the airport building you will find everything that a person needs while traveling. There are ATMs, currency exchange offices, newsstands, a post office, pharmacies, many shops, including duty free, as well as restaurants not only in Chinese, but also in European cuisines. Information desks and left-luggage offices are located on the first and third floors. I am glad that the staff of the information service speak English.
In the departure hall there are several children's playrooms, and in the arrival hall there is a mother and child room and a first aid station. Wi-Fi is free throughout the terminal. In addition, in the business centers on the first and third floors of the airport you can use computers, faxes and printers. The complex also includes two hotels - the luxurious Pullman Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and the inexpensive New Airport Hotel.
Pullman Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is a 5-minute walk from the terminal. This is an international-class hotel, equipped with conference rooms and even a golf course. The three-star New Airport Hotel is more likely for the Chinese themselves who come here for business meetings.
How to get to Guangzhou airport?
There are three ways to get to the airport: by metro, by bus or by taxi. Line 3 of the city metro passes through the airport, by the way, the longest line in the world. The Guangzhou subway runs from 06:00 to 23:30, your station is Airport Station South.
Express buses to the airport depart from 9 different points, including from the ticket offices of the city railway station. Travel time is from 30 to 70 minutes.
By taxi, you will reach the airport in an hour, on average, the trip costs 120 yuan - it all depends on the place of landing.
